Oh My we saw an Otter last night swimming around in Skegness Boating Lake!

Seeing an otter has been on our bucket list for a long time, we never imagined we would get to see one in Skegness.

I thought it was a swimming cat at first…LOL, although seeing a cat swim would have been amazing too, but an Otter!

Anyone who has been to Skegness or Skeggy as it’s affectionately known, will know that the Skegness Boating Lake isn’t a lake at all, but a big concrete pond and the area isn’t exactly nature friendly or picturesque, so you can imagine our surprise when we saw an otter swimming around in the murky water.

I have no idea how long it had been there before we arrived, but there wasn’t one duck, goose or moorhen on that side of the lake, which is unusual.

We had the privilege to spend 10 minutes with it swimming within a few feet of us and it came out of the water a few times under the bridge to take a good look at us.

We tried to take some pictures and video, but our phone wasn’t up to the challenge in the dark. It doesn’t matter the memory is more than enough :)

We did get a picture or two of wet otter footprints where the otter must have left the water.
